What’s new in SMSEagle Software 6.1

Advanced Text-to-Speech for Voice Calls*

This feature allows you to send automated TTS voice messages in 36 different languages. You can upload custom language models for specific needs. The new Text-to-Speech functionality not only simplifies communication in environments where reading messages may be challenging but also enhances notifications voice quality. 

Example uses:

  • Logistics: Drivers on the road can benefit from voice notifications about delivery schedule changes or delays. Hearing the message allows them to stay informed without needing to stop and read a text.
  • Emergency Services: First responders or people in the field can benefit from voice alerts about changes in emergency scenarios or new dispatch details.
  • Public Transport: Bus and train operators can receive voice alerts for route changes or incidents, ensuring quick responses without distractions.

Personalized Voice Calls with Recorded Audio Files*

With SMSEagle Software v.6.1 you can upload custom .wav files and use them for voice calls. This feature is perfect for sending personalized messages to groups or individuals.

One creative use case comes from a Polish sports club. They recorded a Christmas greeting in the voice of the team’s coach and sent it to their fanbase. Fans received a heartfelt and personal message as a holiday gift, which strengthened the connection between the club and its supporters.

  • Corporate: Welcome messages for new employees or special event invitations.
  • Hospitality: Personalized thank-you messages from hotel managers to repeat customers.

With the new API method send_multichannel, you can combine SMS with voice calls, and send a single message in different formats in one go.

What’s improved in SMSEagle Software 6.1

The 6.1 update includes improvements that make SMSEagle even more secure and easy to use:

  • Two-Factor Authentication Support: Secure your account with authenticator apps like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator or Authy.
  • Email-to-SMS Enhancements: Automatically remove extra text like footers from emails when converting them to SMS.
  • Repeat Alerts for Network Monitoring: SMSEagle can send SMS reminders at regular intervals until issues are resolved.
  • Integrated SMS and Calls*: Combine SMS and voice calls across Email To SMS, Email To SMS Poller, Network Monitoring, SMS forwarding, and Digital I/O features.

* Notice: Voice/Calls functions are only available to users who have purchased the VOICE add-on for their SMSEagle device.

How to Upgrade

There are two ways of how can you update the software: 

  • If you would like to perform software update on your device, please open your Web-GUI > Settings > Updates > “Check for software update now”. 
  • To receive an offline update please contact us via the Support Center.

36 hours of SMS downtime: what the Vonage outage reveals about the resilience of cloud services

In May 2026, a fire at the NorthC data center in Almere, the Netherlands, caused a major disruption to Vonage’s SMS services. Some customers lost access to key services such as SMS API, Messages API, and Verify API, while some systems took more than 36 hours to recover. An additional issue affecting the Numbers Deactivation API, linked to the same incident, continued until May 11, four days after the fire.
