Integrating AKCP sensorProbe+ environmental monitors (SP1+, SP2+, SPX+) and AKCPro Server with the SMSEagle hardware SMS gateway lets you deliver temperature, humidity, water leak, smoke and power alarms as SMS messages, wake-up ring calls and text-to-speech voice calls (TTS Advanced). One SMSEagle device serves every probe in the building, so you do not need a cellular modem and SIM card in each unit.
Critical alarms reach your team by SMS or voice call even when the internet link or the corporate mail server fails. SMSEagle sends them directly over the cellular network from inside your network.
The on-call technician gets the alarm on the phone, without logging into the probe or AKCPro Server. A TTS Advanced call reads out the sensor name and status, in the local language, and wakes people at night.
sensorProbe+ units can send SMS only when fitted with a cellular modem. With SMSEagle, every probe keeps using its built-in email action, and a single central gateway with one or two SIM cards handles SMS and voice for the whole site.
SMSEagle runs on-premise. Sensor data, alarm content and phone numbers stay inside your network, which suits data centers, telecom sites and other environments with strict security policies.
A sensor on the sensorProbe+ enters a Warning or Critical state, for example high temperature or water detected.
The Watchdog sends an alarm email to PHONE_NUMBER@SMSEAGLE_IP or PHONEBOOK_GROUP@SMSEAGLE_IP. SMSEagle acts as the SMTP server, so no external mail server is involved.
SMSEagle converts the email into an SMS and, optionally, follows it with a wake-up call or a TTS voice call.
| Item | Requirement |
|---|---|
| AKCP device | sensorProbe+ (SP1+, SP2+, SPX+) or securityProbe; optionally AKCPro Server |
| SMSEagle device | latest software version recommended |
| SMSEagle plugin | Email to SMS (included in every device) |
| Voice features | VOICE add-on for the SMSEagle device |
| Network | access from the probe or AKCPro Server to SMSEagle on TCP port 25 |
sp2-rack12@company.local.PHONE_NUMBER@SMSEAGLE_IP, for example 48501234567@192.168.1.101.PHONEBOOK_GROUP@SMSEAGLE_IP, for example oncall@192.168.1.101 to notify a whole team.AKCPro Server: if the probes report to AKCPro Server, configure the same SMTP server and email recipients in AKCPro Server instead of on each probe. One place to manage all sites.
| Symptom | Cause |
|---|---|
| Email action fails in the probe event log | wrong SMSEagle IP, port 25 blocked, TLS enabled on the probe, or missing Mail from address |
| Email accepted, no SMS | no matching forwarding rule in Email to SMS, or wrong number format in the address |
| SMS text is too long | shorten the email template on the probe; long bodies are split into several SMS |
| SMS arrives, no call | VOICE add-on missing or Call after sending SMS not set in the rule |
If a site already uses sensorProbe+ units with their own cellular modem, SMSEagle can still be added as the second, independent alert path through the Email action. Two separate delivery routes mean that one faulty SIM card or modem does not silence the alarm.
A probe that loses power or network access cannot report anything. SMSEagle Network Monitor can check every sensorProbe+ with Ping/ICMP and an HTTP check of its web interface. If a unit stops responding, SMSEagle sends an SMS or places a call on its own. Do not route the AKCP Heartbeat email to Email to SMS, as it would send an SMS at every heartbeat interval.
SMSEagle is a hardware & software solution that guarantees a swift delivery of your messages to designated recipients, whether it’s for notifications, alerts, or important updates.
