Can an SMS Gateway Really Send SMS texts from the Email Client?

Posted On 4 lipca 2016 By Megan Morreale In Technology @pl /  2

Flexibility is a top of mind concern for IT professionals who are in charge of the transport of  business-critical information for their organizations. It’s for this reason that some decide to use short message service (SMS) gateways for support.

The number one functionality needed for SMS communication purposes is the ability to still communicate and conduct business seamlessly across all cellular operators.

But can an SMS gateway really send an SMS via email seamlessly to any operator in the world?

The options for IT professionals to utilize SMS more regularly have evolved.

SMS gateway can be used for Email to SMS communication.

According to TechTarget, an SMS gateway provides extended capabilities to the network to which it is connected:

“An SMS gateway is a website that allows users to send SMS messages from a web browser to people within the cell served by that gateway.

It can also serve as an international gateway for users with roaming capability, allowing SMS communication away from the home network.” – TechTarget

An SMS gateway is more than just a website- it’s a service that allows any external software to be used within your network coverage.

According to Nojitter, 80% of adult Americans use SMS to communicate. They have a much higher open rate (98%) than email (20%). In terms of choosing a form of communication when systems fail, SMS is a reliable choice.

It’s now common to be able to convert an email into a text message with use of special email services offered by cellular operators. The tools to do so are public, as proven by DigitalTrends –  they provide common addresses to convert email to text.

Alltel [insert 10-digit number]@message.alltel.com
AT&T [insert 10-digit number]@txt.att.net
Boost Mobile [insert 10-digit number]@myboostmobile.com
Sprint [insert 10-digit number]@messaging.sprintpcs.com
T-Mobile [insert 10-digit number] @tmomail.net
US Cellular [insert 10-digit number] @email.uscc.net
Verizon [insert 10-digit number] @vtext.com
Virgin Mobile [insert 10-digit number] @vmobl.com

While these email addresses allow users to send email to SMS within a particular cellular operator, they are limited only to one cellular operator and don’t provide worldwide coverage – SMSEagle provides coverage for all operators.

SMS messages can be directly sent to your cellular operator without a cellular device.

SMSEagle technology sends text messages directly to your cellular operator. The email to SMS plugin in the device converts the email to SMS.

In order to utilize this feature you need to have your own SMSEagle device and a SIM card inside.

Messages should be sent  to the following email address:

SMSEagle PHONE_NUMBER@[IP.ADDRESS.OF.YOUR.SMSEAGLE]

The messages will then convert to an SMS message. The phone number needed is the destination phone number, and the IP address is the IP address of SMSEagle device in your network.

Through using this flipped formula, our technology provides something unique – the ability to convert email to SMS and send the SMS to any operator in the world.

Example:

An email message sent to the email address: 1234567890@[192.168.0.101] will be converted to an SMS message and delivered to phone number (123) 456-7890.

An SMS Gateway can really send emails as SMS, improving the ease of use, redundancy, reliability and functionality of your communication network and protection of your business-critical information in the event of an emergency.
